Ughelli LGA chairman imposes curfew over bloody #end EFCC arrests protest in Delta

The Ughelli North Local Government Council, Chairman, Hon. Godwin Adode has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in the Ughelli community following the anti-EFCC protest which saw the destruction of public properties and the killing of three protesters on Tuesday.

The protest which turned bloody was led by some youths and suspected internet fraudsters against officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for indiscriminate arrests of suspected ‘Yahoo boys’ in Delta state.

Delta state police spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe when contacted said the curfew became imperative as a measure to prevent further breakdown of law and order in the community.

The peaceful protest later turned violent when trucks laden with petroleum products and granites were set ablaze, and about three youths lost their lives to stray bullets.

It was gathered about five (5) trucks were completely burnt down, and thirteen (13) were vandalized by the protesters.
