There is little sigh of relief in Bakhmut after months of tense fighting for the soul of the city by both Russian and Ukrainian forces.

It was assumed recently that Bakhmut will be captured by the Russian forces following unimaginable shelling and massive bombing of the city.

But it had been reported on Saturday that following the massive counteroffensive by Ukrainian forces over 20,000 Russian soldiers at the frontline of Bakhmut had been killed between the past two weeks.

A report by BBC said:”The eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut has been devastated after months of fighting.

“The battle for Bakhmut, the Ukrainian city which Russia has spent months trying to capture, is “stabilising”, says Ukraine’s commander in chief.

“Earlier this month, Western officials estimated between 20,000 and 30,000 Russian troops had been killed or injured in Bakhmut since last summer”.
