Suspected terrorists believed to be members of the Ansaru terrorist sect have taken full control of the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The bandits reportedly banned political activities in some communities in the council in the state.

However, the Chairman of Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressives Union (BEPU), Ishaq Kasai, informed the newsmen in a statement on Sunday.

The chairman, Kasai groaned that lives in the affected communities are not saved following the disbandment of political meetings, rallies and other activities in several communities in the eastern part of the Birnin-Gwari local council.

According to him, politicians in such areas now travel to neighbouring communities in secret to hold political meetings.

“We are afraid, the group has gained acceptance from the locals as the insurgents regularly recruit young residents by distributing memory cards containing their beliefs and doctrine,” he added
