Ondo State police said on Tuesday that they had read the riot act to certain political elements who intended to incite unrest by organizing young people for their own self-interest in the state.

This was revealed in a statement made available to journalists in Akure by SP. Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Ondo State Command.

Odunlami-Omisanya claimed that rumours that some individuals are preparing to wreak havoc in Ondo State had brought the attention of the state’s police.

“Through our intelligence reports, some political elements are bent on disrupting the peace of the state through concerted efforts and mobilisation of unsuspecting youths.

“Specific reports revealed that sponsors seek to cause mayhem with a view to embarrassing the state for certain selfish ends.

“The State Police Command, therefore, warns such elements within the state to retrace their steps or be made to face the wrath of the law.

“Meanwhile, we are assuring the law-abiding citizens of their safety as they approach the yuletide season,” the PPRO said. (NAN)
