You won’t fail; come work for my administration– Uzodimma tells PDP, LP candidates

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has extended an invitation to his rivals in the recently concluded gubernatorial contest to work together to improve the state.

He claimed that the people of the state had triumphed rather than his opponents.

All Progressives Congress (APC) member Uzodimma reached out to his opponents in a Monday afternoon state broadcast.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Samuel Anyanwu and the Labour Party’s Athan Achonu were defeated handily by the former senator.

One day after being proclaimed the winner of the off-cycle poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Imo helmsman gave an acceptance speech.

Recall that after Uzodimma defeated PDP candidate Emeka Ihedioha in the gubernatorial election, a Supreme Court decision proclaimed him the victor.

The governor claimed that God, who also gave him his first term’s victory, was the source of his victory on Saturday.

“By the glory of God, yesterday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared me the winner of the election. Since it has pleased God and Imo people to confer that honour on me, I congratulate and commiserate with my brothers who contested with me… in a democratic contest like the one on Saturday, only one person will emerge victorious,” he said.

“I congratulate and commiserate with (my) brothers who contested the election with me.

“They did not lose. I, therefore, call on all of them to come and join hands with me to build the Imo of their collective dreams…”
