President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived at the National Assembly Complex on Wednesday to commemorate 25 years of democracy in Nigeria.

His motorcade arrived at 11:57 a.m., and he was yet to enter the Senate chamber. Shortly after, Speaker of the House Abbas Tajudeen and Senate President Godswill Akpabio entered the chamber.

Akpabio announced that the President would not address the Assembly but would listen to the Old National Anthem, encouraging members to memorize the new one.

However, Tinubu later made a brief speech to the lawmakers, despite earlier confusion over conflicting statements from the Presidency about his address to a joint session.

The National Assembly had announced a special joint session on Wednesday to mark the 25th anniversary of democracy in Nigeria. In his brief speech, Tinubu urged collaboration among lawmakers to build a prosperous Nigeria for future generations.
