7 brutalized as transporters, hoodlums clash with FCT maintenance officials

About seven officials of FCT administration on a cleanup exercise at Zuba at Gwagwalada Area Council have been terribly brutalized by commercial transporters and hoodlums during an ensuring misunderstanding on Wednesday.

Congress gathered the officials were in the area to clear out illegal parks and shanties in Zuba, when they were viciously brutalized leaving seven seriously injured.

Source said, the task team comprising of officials from the Department of Development Control, Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) and Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) were assigned to clear Zuba of all illegal parks and shanties when they were attacked.

An eyewitness narrated that the uproar began when the DTRS officials started impounding vehicles immediately after demolishing the park at Zuba interchange, adding that development provoked the commercial motorists as they started throwing stones to disrupt the ongoing exercise.

The source asserted that seven of the officials were reportedly injured while others scampered for safety and rushed into their vehicles to flee.
