Police rescue man abducted on wedding day in Warri

Joint security operatives, including police and the military have rescued a marriage groom, Mr Oreva Godswill Akpegbe who was abducted by suspected gunmen in Warri, Delta state.

The incident occurred on Sunday 31st Oct ,2021 when the groom was abducted on his way to the marriage event along Ekpan Road in Warri.

It was learnt that the security operatives, including Anti kidnap Delta, Delta Hawk (OPDH) Ekpan, DPOs of Ekpan, Ororekpe and Ebrumede divisions locked down the area after a tip-off.

Source, said the abductors having aware of the city being locked down with security operatives, decided to push out their victims from the car and escaped.

According to an eyewitness, Comrade Kelly Efemena Umukoro, Urhobo Ethnic Nationality Youth President, he quickly alerted the security operatives upon being informed of the grooms abduction.

He maintained that security was beefed up immediately after he made contacts to relevant security agencies, adding that the groom was rescued after few minutes into the abduction.

The Urhobo youth leader appreciated the police and the military for their quick interventions in rescuing the groom.
