FAMINE LOOMS IN GAZA AS HUMANITARIAN CRISES WORSEN, UN ISSUES GRAVE WARNING

The United Nations has issued an urgent alert over a rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, warning that the region is on the verge of a full scale famine as conflict continues to hinder aid access and destroy infrastructure.

In a statement released Monday, the UN backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) revealed that over 500,000 residents in Gaza are now facing catastrophic levels of hunger. The IPC’s latest assessment describes the situation as the worst-case scenario now unfolding, with entire communities suffering from acute malnutrition and a near total collapse of food supply systems.

The World Food Programme (WFP) and other aid agencies say persistent fighting between Israeli forces and Palestinian militants, ongoing since October 2024, has cut off critical supply routes and made humanitarian operations nearly impossible.

Access to the hardest-hit areas, particularly northern Gaza, has been largely restricted due to continued bombardments and military blockades. Aid convoys are either delayed or entirely turned back, often leaving desperate families without basic necessities such as food, clean water, and medical supplies.

Meanwhile, international NGOs and human rights groups are calling for a sustained ceasefire and the immediate lifting of restrictions on aid delivery, warning that delays could cost thousands of lives.
