Dr. Julius Pondi and the Fourth Floor, By Enewaridideke Ekanpou

There is a prevailing aroma in town. That a particular federal legislator has just flown to the fourth floor of representation through the APC primary democratically held in the Headquarters of Burutu Local Government Area on 16 May 2026 is the aroma that currently spirals into every available political space of engagement. In the democratic language of APC primaries mastered nation-wide as a democratic culture, this electoral exercise consensually produced a candidate on 16 May 2026.The product of this electoral exercise has flown like eagle. Rt. Hon. Dr. Julius Pondi is the federal legislator whose eagle-like flight has sparked positive vibrations and healthy conversations. It was on wings of commendable performance this legislator flew on a straight line without feeble fluttering of wings like rain-drenched bats and owls.

Dr. Pondi’s flight on wings of remarkable legislative performance is a legend that leaves legacy pointers to any waiting successor in the business of representation in the House of Representatives when another electoral cycle arrives for the selection of credible flagbearers in any political party. This aroma wafted everywhere can only be a product of result-oriented representation since a killer miasma is always the natural accompaniment of disastrous representation. Based on this consensually solid and transparent candidature of Dr. Pondi on the platform of APC, the miasma of misrepresentation has lost the power to hold any space captive for unstoppable exploitation of the ordinary people. Interestingly, this has also set higher standards for evaluation of legislative performance of any person who may come after Dr. Pondi’s applauded alloted time. Alas, I wish the great philosopher Timiebi Maika Timiebi were still alive because only this great philosopher could do legislative wonders comparable to Dr. Pondi!

Flight for Dr. Pondi was a sine qua non needed to consolidate existing achievements legislatively attracted to Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state; yet there was a void. The gaping void – which was only imaginatively created by wishful thinkers – made it impossible for Pondi to geometrise and fly because there were no branches to perch on when the flight necessitated rest. However, even if there were waiting branches, the target of wishful malevolent hunters and archers would strategically turn the calculated flight into a debacle for ‘failure apologists’ to feast on. Scornfully. Gloatingly. Triumphantly.Triumphally. Dr. Pondi was beyond the killer bait of wishful thinkers.

Dr. Pondi strategically cast his gaze everywhere, geometrised and flew above the political arrows and bullets willfully programmed to produce electoral debacle and mockery. The credit of this ‘mangled debacle’ is therefore that of the magic of democracy which has the power to eliminate political diabolism, political virus, political cancer, even where it has metastasised in its range of penetration and destruction of the political anatomy and political physiology of a given candidate.

Dr. Pondi must be a political geometrist who derives strength and reinforcement from the power of democracy – a power of democracy healthily responsive to Pondi’s 156 flaws of representation with the healthiest understanding that the so-called 156 flaws are ironically twisted and reversed metaphors of great legislative performance covering three tenures of effective representation in the House of Representatives. Dr. Pondi is incontrovertibly the legislator’s legislator in performance history archived in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

If we must draw on culture and history for the right education and guidance in the evaluation of Dr. Pondi’s legislative performance over the years, even the indescribably deaf iguanas of Tuomo know that the 156 epic-like flaws of representation are actually the marked tellers of Dr. Pondi’s story of commendable legislative achievements in Burutu Council because these flaws carry his numerous developmental projects easily identifiable in every ward in Burutu Federal Constituency. Only self-appointed activists of verbal cremation, entrepreneurs of falsehoods and professional pretenders would be tempted to ignore the development markers of Dr. Pondi in Burutu Council.

The federal legislator’s consensually acquired electoral victory is solely traceable to his personal legislative achievements. This phenomenon only finds a parallel in Okonkwo of Chinua Achebe’s THINGS FALL APART. Okonkwo’s success in Umuofia is a solid personal achievement, not traceable to his infamously lazy father Unoka.

Like eagle, Dr. Pondi flew admirably on 16 May 2026 without impediments because his famed 156 flaws of representation spoke eloquently for him and guided the people towards the right legislative choice to represent the great people of Burutu Federal Constituency on the fourth floor of representation in the House of Representatives in 2027 after the general elections. Predictably, even in the awaited general elections, Dr. Pondi is still most likely to fly like eagle into the fourth floor because the feelers point to that. For Dr. Pondi it will always be from flight to flight to different floors of representation in different capacities attuned to the joy of the ordinary people. Congratulations, Dr!
