BREAKING NEWS: Ondo State: Ówó Legislative Arm Affirms Indefinite Suspension of Hon. Tope Omolayo.

OWO, Ondo State – The Legislative Arm of Owo Local Government has affirmed the indefinite suspension of Hon. Tope Omolayo, originally issued on 20 October, 2026 pending the constitution of an investigative committee by the Governor.

At today’s session, councillors said the affirmation was necessary to uphold order and prevent disruption to the fragile peace in Owo. They cited the suspended chairman’s recent attempt to forcefully resume office despite the subsisting suspension.

The Legislative Arm stated that the suspension will remain in force until the Governor sets up a committee to investigate the allegations against Hon. Omolayo and fast-track the impeachment process in line with the law.

Following the resolution, the council affirmed Hon. Ahmed as the Acting Chairman of Owo Local Government with immediate effect.

Career officers and staff were also warned to desist from dealing with Hon. Omolayo in any capacity or under any disguise. The council said any officer found engaging with him would face disciplinary action.
