2027: Nothing Is More Important Than Peace In Warri — Mulade

Renowned peace ambassador and development advocate, Comrade Mulade Sheriff, has expressed concern over the growing tension in Warri and surrounding communities in Delta State, stressing that the preservation of peace is far more important than any personal political ambition.

Mulade, who contested and worn the recently concluded NDC party primaries, condemned the actions of individuals allegedly fueling ethnic divisions, engaging in blackmail, and making inflammatory remarks over the outcome of the exercise instead of focusing on preparations for the 2027 general elections.

He emphasised the need for all residents and stakeholders to prioritize unity, harmony, and peaceful coexistence in Warri and its environs, noting that a stable and peaceful environment is essential for attracting development, investment, and employment opportunities for the region’s growing youth population.

The Ibe-Sorimowei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom commended the Itsekiri, Ijaw, Urhobo, and other ethnic groups in Warri Federal Constituency for maintaining peace despite provocations and attempts to stir ethnic sentiments. He reiterated that the peace, stability, and progress of Warri remain more important than his personal political aspirations.

Mulade therefore appealed to residents to reject ethnic prejudice, hatred, and divisive politics, urging them instead to embrace unity, tolerance, and collective progress for the benefit of present and future generations.

He further called on the people of Warri to strengthen peaceful coexistence and support efforts aimed at accelerating development across the area, while complementing the initiatives of the Delta State Government in delivering infrastructural projects and other dividends of democracy.
According to him, sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and stability.

“No meaningful development can be achieved in an environment plagued by crisis and conflict. Peace remains the foundation upon which progress and prosperity are built,” Mulade stated.
