PAP: Shelve Your Monday Protest, Seek Dialogue, Otuaro Addressing Inherited Problems -IPDI to Delegates
By Joseph Bienbo, Warri
The Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative, IPDI, has called on delegates of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, to shelve their proposed protest slated for November 2, 2026, and embrace dialogue.
In a statement issued on Saturday, its national president, Comrade Ozobo Austin said the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, has addressed some of the inherited challenges bedeviling the programme and is still working to resolve outstanding issues.
IPDI appealed to leaders of the various phases of the amnesty programme to prevail on their members to call off the protest.
“Leaders of the various phases of the amnesty programme should prevail on their boys to call off the proposed protest on November 2, 2026,” the group said.
The group noted that the current administration at the PAP met several inherited problems but has shown commitment in addressing them.
“Otuaro reform has addressed some of such inherited problems, still ready to resolve outstanding ones, just give him time,” IPDI stated.
According to the group, Dr. Otuaro deserved commendation rather than distraction, describing him as a listening leader who is open to engagement.
“Dr Dennis Burutu Otuaro has done well, he deserves commendation and not unnecessary distractions,” the statement read.
“Let the leadership of the various phases of the presidential amnesty programme engage him for dialogue, I believe the whole issue would be resolved, he is a listening leader,” IPDI added.
The group urged all stakeholders to support the Otuaro’s ongoing reforms to sustain peace and development in the Niger Delta.
