Again, Bayelsa community issues 72 Hours Ultimatum to Gov Diri to shut down SPDC operations over insincerity

Following a perceived bias in the moves to resolve Aghoro community kingship crisis by Bayelsa state governor, His Excellency senator Douye Diri, the community leaders have issued 72 hours ultimatum to the Bayelsa State Government to create the separate account he promised to open for the community to enable SPDC pay money belonging to the community into it.

The statement which was signed on behalf of the community by Mr Emma Igete stated that Bayelsa government can no longer be trusted, alleging that Diri conniving with SPDC to freeze Afrotex company private accounts.

“We are giving him 72 hours ultimatum to call SPDC to order to unfreeze the Afrotex private company account and open the general account to receive money meant for the community.

“SPDC is not our bank or treasurer to keep our money. All money due for the community should be paid into the separate community account the governor promised to create and ensure that we are briefed with details of such money.

“It is about a month now when the governor dissolved the leaders of the community. There is no vacuum in leadership. He can’t dissolve the existing leadership and go and sleep. A community that does not have a leader is a community without direction. We are intelligent people and we will not allow ourselves to be fooled. May be he is using the ousted leadership of the community to be ruling the community that is what we don’t know, but what we want is the confirmation of the new leadership since the former has been dissolved.

“He should order SHELL to unfreeze Afrotex private company account and fasttrack ways to install the new leadership in the community to avoid further conflicts in the community under the 72 hours ultimatum.

“If he is not ready to address our issues, he should leave us alone, we know how best to solve our problems. He should equally order the SPDC to stop importing people to come and work in our community.

“After the expiration of the 72 hours ultimatum if he(Diri) fails to do the needful, we will decide our fates and forge ahead and resolve on the best practices to rule our community, Mr Emma added.

“It is our candid advice that Senator Diri should call SPDC staff Ewos Saniyo, Oluyemi Ogunluwa, Tony Ahotu, Ningi Brown, Ovie Dominion and Cyprana Willy to order, they are behind the crisis in the community.”, they noted.
