The Action Peoples Party (APP) has won 22 chairmanship seats out of 23 in Saturday’s Rivers State local government election.

It was gathered that the Rivers State held LGA election on Saturday across the 23 Council Areas amid protests from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The announcement was made by the Chief Election Officer of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, on Saturday evening in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

While declaring the results, Enebili said the declaration of the entire result is pending because the collation of votes was still ongoing in the Etche Local Government Area.

Enebeli noted that the results for Etche LGA will be declared alongside that of the 319 councillorship seats at a later date.

It would be recalled that Governor Simi Fubara had directed all council chairmen aspirants to pick nomination forms of the APP prior to the poll.
