BREAKING: CBN extends deadline for old naira notes swap

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has extended the deadline for the exchange of old naira notes on Sunday.

This came on the heels of calls by the National Assembly and Nigerians to extend the deadline owning to the unavalability of the new naira notes in the public.

The Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele made the U-turn on Sunday morning.

According to him, the extension would last for only 10days.

The CBN governor, Emefiele in a press statement issued on Sunday, said the new deadline is now February 10, 2023.
