Breaking: Soldiers invade Delta Community, wounding scores as residents scamper for safety

Suspected military personnel in two gun boats have invaded Ekogbene Community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state on Monday.

The incident occurred at the wee hours on Monday when some trigger-happy soldiers invaded the community and shoot intermittently, wounding some civilians as residents scampered to the forest for safety.

Community source said the military invaded the peaceful Community without provocation.

Narrating the ordeal, the source said some time 30th March, 2021 a barge, tagged Yarde 15′ belonging to Sterling company lost control and damaged the community concrete jetty, noting that barely six months now when the company promised to repair it but nothing has been done about it.

The source added that the community decided to visit the company for a reminder, but the company misinterpreted the visit and sent military gun boats attached to the crude barge Yarde 15′ to invade the community.

An official of the community stated that several persons including women and children were still missing after the military had departed the community.
