Chief Moni Speaks On Otuaro’s Reforms, Appeals To N’Delta Youths To Shun Oct 1 Protest
By Stephen Asaba-ase
A prominent Traditional chief in Niger Delta, Comrade Ebis Moni, the SUKEREOWEI 1 OF OPEREMOR KINGDOM and the pioneer chairman of Meinbotus freedom fighters in Warri , Delta State has commended the ongoing reforms of the administrator of the presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, chief Dennis Brutu Otuaro PhD.
He equally appealed to Niger Delta youths not to participate in the proposed October 1st protest in the country, citing that the protest may compound the woes of the country at this material time.
Moni, in a statement emphasised that the country is undergoing rebirth and that with the Renewed Hope Mantras of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu things would get better soon, adding that Niger Delta youth should give Mr president more time to fix the country.
He said the country is divided along ethnic lines, with every group defending their own over the years, warning that if citizens don’t take precaution with the way they embark on protest, the country would likely snowball into a chaotic situation.
Moni who doubled as the current BoT chairman of Meinbotus, pointed out that the protest would not do Nigerians any good, “it’s better we support the present government of Bola ahmed Tinubu”.
He further advised youths in the country particularly, the Niger Delta youths to shun the protest coming up on the 1st October, 2024.
The statement reads, “as you can see Mr President is trying to reform the amnesty program to accommodate more people for the betterment of the Niger Delta region. Let us maintain the fragile peace in the Niger Delta.
“You know, because of his love for Niger Delta people he renewed the pipeline surveillance job given to Tantita Security Company which was earlier awarded by former president Muhammadu Buhari, to enable Tantita empower over 40, 000 Niger Delta youths.
“Which company in this country can employ workers up to this magnitude”?, Moni queried.
“Again, Mr president has also awarded a huge contract to construct the historic coastal road from Lagos to Calabar that will give us a smooth ride to Lagos to and fro, which is a welcome development.
We should know that the hardship we are facing today is caused by the oil mafias, cartel and the cabal in the sector. So let us unanimously join Mr president and Dangote to give a serious fight to the cabal to leave the oil sector alone, so that we can buy petrol with cheaper prices of at most N500 naira a litre, yes it’s possible” he reiterated.
“Mr president understands the present situation and the suffering we are passing through in the country as a people, due to the hard decision of fuel subsidy removal. There’s so much need for the removal of fuel subsidy because those cabals are enriching themselves in the name of subsidy over the years draining the economy of the country which is too bad.
“I urge all Nigerians to shun the protest because everything will change to normal in the coming days.
“Mr president, commander -in- chief of the federal republic of Nigeria is working day and night to ensure every commodity in the market comes down drastically.
I am appealing to the country to give him little chance, things will change for the better”, he noted.
