The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Chief Dennis Brutu Otuaro, PhD, Amb. Godknows Boladei Igali, National Chairman of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Barr. McDonald Igbadiwei, President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC); Paul Bebenimibo, PhD, Registrar of the Nigerian Maritime University; Chief Akpos Meze, Chief Coordinator of Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), Bayelsa State; Chief Sheriff Mulade, National Coordinator of the Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ); Wing Commander PY Biakpara and Ijaw Youth Council are among other dignitaries and civil society organizations that will grace the Congress 5th anniversary ceremony in Warri, Delta State on Thursday July 16, 2026.

The celebration was described as a landmark gathering of media professionals, government officials, traditional leaders, stakeholders and members of the public.

The anniversary celebration, themed “The Role of Media in Governance,” will commence at 12:00 noon at the TM Event Center, Airport Road, Warri.

In a statement issued by its management described the milestone as a celebration of five years of excellence, courage, commitment and dedicated service to journalism, while reaffirming its resolve to uphold professionalism, credibility and fearless reporting.

According to the management, the anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on the organisation’s journey, appreciates the unwavering support of its readers, viewers, contributors and partners, and renew its commitment to promoting truth, accountability and balanced reporting in Nigeria.

The event will be chaired by Amb. Jude Ukori, former Chairman of the Egbema/Gbaramatu Development Foundation.

The management emphasised that activities marking the anniversary will included a special commemorative publication, stakeholder engagements, recognition of staff, contributors and partners, as well as discussions on the future of journalism in Nigeria with emphasis on digital transformation, press freedom, media innovation and ethical reporting.
Reaffirming its editorial philosophy, the organisation pledged to remain committed to journalism that promotes transparency, accountability and national development.

“As we celebrate this significant milestone, we renew our commitment to journalism that is true, fearless and credible. We remain dedicated to informing the public, amplifying the voices of the Niger Delta and promoting responsible governance through factual and balanced reporting,” the management stated.

The organisation invited government officials, media practitioners, development partners, corporate organisations, traditional rulers, civil society organisations and members of the public to participate in the celebration as it marks another milestone in its contribution to public interest journalism.

Other top dignitaries included Mrs. Eunice Angozi, the Mother of the Day; and Barr. Omes Ogedegbe, who will deliver the keynote address.
