Delta Police Intercept Armed Suspects, Recover Two Pump-Action Guns in Asaba

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three armed suspects and recovered two pump-action guns with seven live cartridges during a stop-and-search operation at the Head Bridge in Asaba.
The suspects were intercepted by operatives of the Buffalo Patrol Team on May 6, 2026, at about 7:06 p.m. while officers were conducting a strategic security operation at the Asaba Head Bridge, the boundary between Delta and Anambra states.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Bright Edafe, the operatives stopped a black Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep with registration number ABJ 254 CD for routine checks.
The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Chukwu Emeka Okeke, 30; Ndudo Tochukwu, 37; and Oraka Kaosiso Chukwu, 34.
Police authorities disclosed that acting on reasonable suspicion, the patrol team conducted a thorough search of the vehicle, leading to the recovery of two pump-action guns loaded with seven rounds of live cartridges.
The three suspects were immediately arrested and taken into police custody, while the recovered firearms and ammunition were secured as exhibits.
The Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the possession of the weapons and any possible criminal links.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism, and swift response.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing the proliferation of illegal arms and combating criminal activities across Delta State.
The police also assured residents of sustained security operations to ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the state.
