A group under the auspices of the Coalition of Riverine Communities for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo State has endorsed “Gentle Giant” of Edo politics, Osarodion Ogie Esq as deputy governorship candidate of the party.

The spokesperson of the group Comrade Ezekiel Daniel, in a statement on Monday said Mr. Ogie had demonstrated capacity and sportsmanship as Secretary to the State Government and beyond.

The coalition commended Mr. Ogie’s down-to-earth leadership style which had earned him respect across the 18 LGAs. As a prominent Ikpoba-Okha son, the group expressed confidence that he would effectively advocate for riverine development as deputy governor.

The group added that Mr. Ogie’s influence in his local government and beyond would boost the party’s chances of victory considering his unwavering commitment towards the PDP’s successful 2020 and 2024 campaigns.

The riverine front who appealed to PDP leaders and National Coordinator Ipikuimoh Godfrey Owei said the 63-year-old gentle Giant being a team player had done much to lift the party beyond borders in the state.

However, those who know Osarodion Ogie described him as a humble and a calculative grassroots mobilizer.
The soft-spoken “Gentle Giant” consistently delivered for both Governors, Oshiomhole and Obaseki in key roles. He was said to have forfeited his governorship ambition in 2015 to support Godwin Obaseki’s campaign and later appointment as SSG.

Despite being a soft-spoken leader,
the results have constantly shown his strategic political acumen and ability to deliver for Edo PDP in areas like Ikpoba-Okha, where he resides, securing Ninety Five percent of the votes there. With this endorsement, observers say the coalition recognised in Mr. Ogie a trustworthy voice for riverine development.
