#Endhunger Protest: Angry Youth Accuse Delta Govt of Manipulating FG Palliatives
By Peters Monday, Abuja
Some angry youth of Delta State who defied all odds, took to the streets today to protest against hunger and alleged manipulation of federal government palliatives by the state government.
The protesters, who marched through major streets in Asaba, carried placards and banners with messages like “#Endhunger”, “Stop manipulating FG palliatives”, and “Delta State government, give us our share”.
They accused the state government of diverting federal government palliatives meant to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable citizens, and demanded transparency and accountability in the distribution of the funds.
“We are tired of being deceived by our leaders,” said one protester. “We know that the federal government has been sending palliatives to the state, but we never see them. It’s like they vanish into thin air.”
The protesters also lamented the high level of poverty and hunger in the state, despite being one of the largest oil-producing states in the country.
“It’s unacceptable that we are suffering like this in an oil-rich state,” said another protester. “We demand that our leaders do better.”
The state government has yet to respond to the allegations, but the protesters vowed to continue their agitation until their demands are met.”
