Violent Protests Engulf Jigawa, APC Secretariat sets on fire

Dutse, Jigawa State – A devastating wave of protests has swept across Jigawa State, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in its wake. The protests, which took place in over 10 Local Government Areas (LGAs), resulted in:
– Two confirmed fatalities: One victim was shot in front of the Government House in Dutse, while another was killed in Shiwarin town.
– Multiple injuries: Many protesters were hurt when police fired live ammunition and teargas to disperse the crowds.
– Widespread destruction: Government property was destroyed and looted in multiple locations.
– APC Secretariat attacked: The All Progressives Congress headquarters in Dutse was set ablaze, and party vehicles were burnt.
Related incidents were reported in:
– Hadejia town: Four people were hospitalized due to injuries and suffocation from teargas, and Agricultural Supply stores were looted.
– Gumel: The State Agricultural Supply Company (JASCO) store, the house of a House of Representatives member, and the APC Zonal Vice Chairman’s residence were vandalized and looted.
– Birninkudu: Two people were injured, and fertilizer and grain stores were vandalized and looted.
– Ringim, Jahun, and Kazaure towns: Protesters took to the streets, demanding an end to bad governance.
The situation remains dire, with widespread chaos and destruction reported across Jigawa State. Authorities are working to restore order and address the grievances of the protesters.
