Ereyitomi, Warri Federal constituency mourn passage of Prof. Grace Alele Williams

The member Representing Warri Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Chief Dr. Thomas Ereyitomi JP and his Warri federal constituents mourned the demise of the former first female Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin , Prof. Grace Alele Williams at 89years.

Hon. Dr. Ereyitomi while commiserating with the immediate family of late Prof. Grace Alele Williams described her death as huge gap crested in the academia and other social philosophical aspects especially in the mathematics field, nothing that her wealth of experience in all spheres of life in Delta State , Nigeria as well as across Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West LGAs would be greatly missed.

He eulogized late Prof Grace Alele Williams, saying she was a woman known as first in her things due to her distinguished academic pursuit.

It was learnt she was the first woman to earn PhD in Mathematics, first woman to become Professor in Mathematics, first woman to become Vice Chancellor in African Higher institution, University of Benin in 1985 till 1991 a position she held for about 6 years, making Bendel now Delta and Edo and entire country proud.

The lawmaker, Ereyitomi was however very optimistic that knowledge impacted to the younger generations when the academic don was alive would be well applied to continue the legacy she had left behind.

The Warri federal lawmaker expressed believe that Prof Alele indelible marks remained in the memory of all those who have passed through her tutelage.

While celebrating Prof. Grace Alele Williams, the Warri National Assembly member, urged women to emulate the doggedness and resolute determination of the first doctorate degree holder in Mathematics in adding visible value to education, Dr. Ereyitomi encouraged women to take advantage abound them in the society to reposition their place in the scheme of things just as Prof Alele had left legacy for all to emulate and replicate.

Chief Ereyitomi on behalf of his family and his Warri federal constituents extended his condolences to Prof. Grace Awani Alele Williams family, Warri federal constituency, the University of Benin the entire education sector and Nigeria at large to bear the great transition of the iconic mathematician and teacher.
