Gunmen Kill Two Soldiers Along Umuopara, Umuahia LGA

Some faceless Gunmen attacked army checkpoint and killed two soldiers in a community bordering between Abia and Imo states in Umuopara, Umuahia South Local Government Area

 

According to a military anonymous source, said the attack occurred around 6:18 am. The gunmen arrived in a white Lexus (350/400) model, although the exact number of assaults could not be fathom.

 

Confirming the incident in a press release on Wednesday,

 

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Unuakhalu of the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA on Wednesday said, “on the 13 of November 2024, the Joint Task Force South East Operation troop UDO KA, deployed to the checkpoint along Umuahia – Owerri Road in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State was attacked by irredentist group Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network.

 

However, soldiers on duty were able to repel and disarray the attackers with injuries, abandoned one Sienna and one Lexus Jeep used in their assault, adding that two soldiers were killed in the process.

 

The JTF also on their good fate appealing to the general public of the South East, especially Abia State extension, for credible information to help track down the fleeing attackers in the region.

 

“We are committed to protect the lives and properties Nigerians in line with the best global best practices and the rules of engagement,” he added.
