Gunmen lay siege on Delta community, raid homes, loot residents

Suspected gunmen have lay siege on the peaceful Otokutu community in Udu Local Government Area for over four hours without police or military intervention on Monday night.

The incident occurred at about 1pm at God grace road on Monday where there was alleged steady shooting for several hours, as they continuous to break into homes and looted residents of their belongings.

A resident told our correspondent when visit the area that the hoodlums terrorized the full street for several hours with continuous shooting, adding that the area was completely looted by the invaders.

He said when the situation was daring he called the Delta Hawk patrol commander in Warri, but he refused to come to rescue the situation.

Another resident identified as Samuel stated that the hoodlums who where moving with slay hammer, destroyed and broke into many houses in the Area.

The sources said there was still tension in the area considering the horrible incident, adding that residents were looted of millions of naira and valuable properties.

The state PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe when contacted said the police is not aware, “but if there is such incident the residents are expected to report to the nearest police station”.

He went further to say that the police are not magicians, so except a case is reported it would not be aware.

However, he promised to investigate the incident and revert back.
