There was heavy gun battle between Waterways and surveillance security team, led by Gen. Godstime Ogidigba and suspected militants in Ovia West local government area of Edo state on Tuesday.

It was gathered that the waterways security operatives at about 12:47PM on Tuesday stormed the militants hide out to tame the reign of criminality in the area, but in sighting them, the militants open fire but the gallant security operatives persisted and overrun their camp, and arrested one of the suspects, while others flee.

A security operative who pleaded on condition of annomity said the battle was severe, adding that it took about an hour to overrun the militants camp as the suspects were firing shots intermittently.

The sources said the arrested suspect is currently detained in the Edo state police command, Benin city for further investigation.

The state PPRO, Kantoong Bello when contacted said the command is yet to be briefed. He promised to revert as soon as he confirmed the incident.
