I don’t have vice President intention 2027 -Peter Obi
By Stephen Asaba-ase
Former Labour Party presidential Candidate, Peter Obi has refuted an agreed deal to become a vice-presidential candidate in 2027 presidential elections.
He said that contrary to reports that are made around, he remains resolute in the Labour Party and that anyone looking for a collaboration must state their intentions clearly.
Meanwhile, Obi said this on X, Saturday, in response to reactions that trailed a recent interview he had on News Central TV.
Obi also said that, he is not desperate to become president or for any other position, hence he is open for partnership in advancing Nigeria’s progress.
He wrote, “I have been over flooded with appeals regarding the interview I had with News Central TV.
“In that interview, I used the opportunity to expound my position in detail. However, some columnists have resorted to propaganda, deliberately distorting information.
“Let me reiterate clearly what I said, in order to set the record straight.
“I do not want to be one of those preoccupied with 2027 while Nigerians are suffering from hunger, poverty, insecurity, and other socio-economic woos.
“When I was asked about collaboration, I deliberately said my openness to working with other people, as far as their intentions were not captioned on state activities. I expressed my commitment to partnering with those who share my vision for advancing Nigeria’s progress.
“I also made it clear that I remain resolute to the Labour Party, and if anyone wishes to discuss or join force, they must define their clear intentions.
“As I have always emphasized, I am not desperate to become president, but I am determined to see that Nigeria is a developed country.
“I want them to explain how we will ensure that no child is left behind and how we will bring millions of out-of-school children back into classrooms, ensure healthy living and pull people out of poverty.
“My statement was unequivocal, and I am genuinely surprised by the misrepresentation of my words.
“For the avoidance of doubts, I never stated at any time that I would be vice president to anyone and it’s unequivocal.
“I have always maintained that I am open to working with those committed to building a new Nigeria.
“My loyalty to Nigeria remains steadfast, and I even believe it is possible to contribute to the progress of Nigeria without being in any government office as some of us are doing it already.”
