JUST IN: Labour Union Shuts Down Wike’s Office Gate
By Peters Monday, Abuja
On Monday, organized labour took a bold step by barricading the main gate of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) headquarters, also known as the Minister’s Gate, preventing workers from entering their offices.
The joint action was taken by the FCTA labour union, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) labour, Joint Union, and Action Committee (JUAC).
Workers gathered at the gate as labour leaders ensured strict compliance with the “no entry, no exit” rule. Comrade Rifkatu Lortyer, President of JUAC, addressed the crowd, vowing to sustain the strike until their demands are met.
She urged FCTA and FCDA workers to stay at home and respect the strike, citing the long-standing struggle for a minimum wage and the recent addition of electricity tariff hike. With the national bodies, NLC and TUC, declaring a strike, the union is determined to enforce it.
