Kaduna: Army Rescues 13 Hostages
By Miracle Esegha
In a daring operation, troops from Sector 4 Operation Whirl Punch successfully rescued 13 hostages from a bandits’ den in Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched a rescue mission on September 14, 2024, at the suspected bandits’ camp in Chigulu village. After a fierce gun battle, the bandits fled, abandoning their hostages.
The troops then freed the 13 hostages – six men and seven women – and dismantled the camp. Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle, a locally made rifle, ammunition, solar panels, mobile phones, and N192,220 in cash.
The rescued victims received medical attention and debriefing at a military facility before being reunited with their families.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, commended the troops for their swift response and successful operation, wishing the rescued individuals well.
The operation was led by Major General MLD Saraso, General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army/Commander Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP).
