Leaders, Family, Friends Say Farewell to Late Chief David Pere as Service of Songs Held in Warri

The compound of the late Chief David Nane Pere, former Transition Committee Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Council, was filled with tears, tributes, and fond memories as leaders, family, friends, and associates gathered for an emotional Service of Songs.
The event, held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, marked the beginning of the final farewell rites for the departed leader, who passed away at the age of 71. The service was attended by dignitaries from across Delta State, including political leaders, traditional chiefs and community stakeholders.
In their tributes, speakers described Chief Pere as a visionary leader, a devoted community servant, and a champion of development in Warri South-West Local Government Council and Niger Delta at large. His contributions to the growth and progress of the Warri were hailed as exemplary.
“Chief Pere was a leader who dedicated his life to serving his people,” said Hon. Francis Oyimi, Chairman of the Burial Planning Committee. “His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.”
Chief (Amb.) Francis Bomiebi, Secretary of the Planning Committee, added, “We have lost a true icon, but his impact will never be forgotten.”
The Service of Songs featured soul-stirring performances by Prince Abraham Donokoromo, Isaba Abraham, and FC De Story Teller.
The funeral rites will continue on Friday, October 11, with a Valedictory Session, funeral service, and internment in Ogbe-ljoh Warri Kingdom.
Late Chief David Pere is survived by his family, friends, and associates who will deeply miss his guidance and wisdom.
Meanwhile, the service of songs was conducted by the Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel Ogboroke.
