Leaders, Stakeholders Attend Official Unveiling Ceremony of Ijaw Women Rights Protection Forum in Delta

Prominent leaders, women advocates, Civil society groups and stakeholders from across the Niger Delta converged in Delta State for the official unveiling ceremony of the Ijaw Women Rights Protection Forum (IWRPF), a newly established women advocacy group, dedicated to promoting the rights, welfare, and empowerment of Ijaw women.

The colourful event which was held in TM Hotel WARRI, Delta State Delta brought together leaders, community representatives, Civil society groups, youth groups, and women’s organisations, all of whom commended the initiative as a significant step towards advancing women gender inclusion, protecting women’s rights, and strengthening the voices of Ijaw women in socio-political and economic affairs.

During the ceremony, the leadership of the forum was officially presented, with certificates of appointment issued to members of the executive council.
The newly inaugurated officers are:
President: Comrade Amogha Hilda
Vice President: Comrade Mariam Emomotimi
Treasurer: Comrade Juliet Idogho
Assistant Secretary: Comrade Sophia Ebikahky
Welfare Officer: Comrade Abalaere Ebikahky

Others included Ex-Officio: Comrade Anty Ande Ebierebo
Woman Leader: Comrade Loveth Atubi
Provost/Chief Security Officer: Comrade Mary Atangbala
Spokesperson: Comrade Ebika Tonfa Oganwu and Zonal Chairman: Comrade Ebi Ipopo.

In her inaugural speech, President of the forum, Comrade Amogha Hilda, expressed appreciation to stakeholders and members for the confidence reposed in the new leadership. She pledged to champion the rights of Ijaw women, promote unity, and ensure that the forum becomes a strong advocate for justice, empowerment, and development.

Several stakeholders who spoke at the event described the formation of the Ijaw Women Rights Protection Forum as timely and necessary, noting that women remain critical to community development and peacebuilding in the Niger Delta.

The ceremony ended with the presentation of certificates, goodwill messages, and a renewed commitment by members to work collectively towards the protection and advancement of Ijaw women’s rights across the region.
