N’Delta journalist, Enaibo bags international award

A Niger Delta journalist, Comrade Asiayei Enaibo who doubled as the Managing Editor of GbaramatuVoice International has been conferred with an international merit award on Tuesday 13th April, 2024.

Congress learnt that the award was presented to him by the Stakeholders Democracy Network, SDN, a non governmental organization, NGO at Golden Tulip Hotel, for being committed to service in community research on peace building in Delta State.

The award which was given on the 20th Anniversary of the organization.

It was further learnt that the Stakeholders Democracy Network, SDN, presented the award to Asiayei because of his commitment in community advocacy and research on peace building in order to curb Oil theft in the whole of Niger Delta region.

“This award is given birth as a result to your being committed to service in community advocacy, research on peace building, artisan refinery, Oil theft, good governance and environmental pollution as a Delta State research consultant with SDN since 2010 with a clear vision of 20 years of SDN community impactful journey through leadership engagement in the Niger Delta region.

The organization which was founded in London in the year 2004 by Joseph Hurst -Croft with a group of passionate individuals with a shared vision is to stand by communities negatively affected by the oil and gas industry in the Niger Delta region.

The Managing Editor on the other hand, appreciated the NGO for deeming him fit for the award which is a sign that the people had him at heart.

In response, Enaibo dedicated his award to the former Country Director, Amb. Inemo.” A, thank you boss, for all you did during the 2010 Ayakoromo Military invasion, SDN team, we made the report to the world at gun point and the Nigerian Military rebuild Ayakoromo community during their Saga with late John Togo and the SDN constant community engagement has addressed key issues of artisans refinery, (Okpofire) Oil pollution, women in politics empowerment, advocacy on good governance and accountability, my sincere appreciation to the organization for future engagements”

He also reiterated that the award presentation is a memorable event as great minds, researchers, stakeholders, professors, NGO’s and other officials in all walks of life to grace the occasion, he therefore thanked everyone for honoring the organization’s invitation.

The award was presented by the Country Director, Florence Ibokabasi.

Other researchers who were also awarded alongside included; Robert Bokolo from Bayelsa State, Fyneface Dumnamene from Rivers and a posthumous award to late Patrick Naagbanton, for commitment to duty and service to make SDN stand tall in the Niger Delta region.
