Mr Muhammadu Buhari has commended President Bola Tinubu, saying that the president has done well in spite of the difficulty in managing Nigeria.

According to a reliable source the former president made the commendation when he was receiving the comptroller-general and members of the Nigeria Customs Service in Daura, Katsina State, on 10th March, 2024.

According to Buhari, governing Nigeria is a tough job for anyone, there is nothing much anybody can do to help the country.

He also stated that President Tinubu had performed excellently well since the assumption into office, despite the economic hardship witnessed by Nigerians across the country.

Mr Buhari urged Nigerians to remain firm despite the economic hardship in the country and bear with the policies and programmes of the current government.

He said, “I thank you very much for coming. I’ very much appreciate you all and I believe that Tinubu has done very well.

“Nigeria is so complex and unusual. Really, there isn’t much anyone can do,” he added.

Meanwhile, on the inauguration day, Tinubu declared that his government would no longer pay fuel subsidy.

“His declaration made the price of the Premium Motor Spirit rise from N185 to over N600”.

Tinubu’s government financial reforms also saw the naira berth on a continuous free fall against the dollar when Central Bank of Nigeria floated the currency tilted towards market-determined rates.

This decision had led to the continuous instability of the naira against the dollar in the market, making it sell for between N1,400 and N1,900.

“Suffice it to say, Nigerians led organised labour union to have protested in the wide and Bret of the country in the passed weeks to revolt against the prevailing economic worse that have sent Nigerians below the poverty level”, the statement added.
