Nigerian Army Discovers Illegal Oil Facilities, Seizes Stolen Crude

The Nigerian Army has uncovered and dismantled several illegal oil refining sites and seized large quantities of stolen crude oil in Bayelsa, Rivers, and Delta States. According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of the 6 Division Army Public Relations, the operation resulted in the discovery of over 200,000 liters of illegally refined petroleum products.
In Bayelsa State, troops discovered an illegal refining site at Dasaba Creek, where they found an oven and a metal reservoir containing over 110,000 liters of suspected stolen crude oil. In Rivers State, troops seized over 33,000 liters of illegally refined product being siphoned into a tank.
Additionally, troops intercepted trucks carrying stolen crude oil in Delta State, with one truck containing over 30,000 liters of stolen products. Another truck was seized in Bayelsa State, also carrying over 30,000 liters of suspected stolen crude.
The Nigerian Army has arrested four suspects in connection with the illegal activities and will hand them over to relevant agencies for prosecution. The operation is part of the army’s efforts to clamp down on economic sabotage and protect the country’s oil resources.
