NNPC debunks Alleged Importation Of Substandard Petrol products

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has denied any involvement in the importation of substandard petroleum products into the country. The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPC, Mele Kyari, made this statement while appearing before a Senate Ad-hoc Committee investigating alleged economic sabotage in the petroleum industry.

 

Kyari emphasized that NNPC is not responsible for the importation of substandard products and that the company follows all relevant rules and regulations. He also stated that NNPC is committed to protecting the country’s economic interests and has nothing to hide.

 

The Senate Committee is investigating allegations of economic sabotage in the petroleum industry, including the importation of substandard petroleum products. The Committee has promised to carry out a fair and impartial investigation and to unravel the factors and forces behind the alleged sabotage.

 

Other stakeholders, including the Dangote Group and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), also made presentations to the Committee. The Dangote Group commended NNPC for its support, while IPMAN warned against monopoly in the petroleum sector.

 

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, expressed confidence in the Committee’s ability to conduct an unbiased investigation. The Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, noted that the Federal Government is committed to rehabilitating the nation’s refineries and supporting localh industries.
