A leading Burutu Local Government Council Chairmanship aspirant Comr Ozobo Austin has appealed to the governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewori to reconstruct and dualised the Orhor-Bomadi road which he said is the only road linking the Delta Ijaws in Burutu, Bomadi and part of Patani LGAs.

While commending Oborewori for the timely completion of Orhor-Bomadi bridge, Ozobo said that the road is currently not passable and highly dilapidated, which is going to be a no go area when the flood comes within some months from now, adding that the governor should prioritise the road, rearward if awarded before, with a dualise plan to give a smooth ride for the River and rural dwellers of the Ijaw and Urhobo communities.

“It’s too terrible I saw the deplorable state of the road when I took a consultative visit to Hon. Michael Ezonfade ,former vice chairman of Burutu LGA, in the Okpokunou community.

“I ‘m seriously appealing to you, Your Excellency to come to the aid of Bomadi and Riverine dwellers by reconstructing the dilapidated road before it causes a terrible accident that will lead to the loss of many lives.

“Sir, Your Excellency, I must thank you for your timely intervention for the reconstruction of the collapsed bridge along Orhor-Bomadi road last year to save the road users and residence from possible loss of life and properties and to enable them accessing the road and their homes.

“Except the road is reconstructed or repaired before the rainy season, the residence of Bomadi, Burutu communities, motorists and investors will not be able to access the road and that will invariably lead to a serious effect on economic activities in the area.

“As an Ijaw leader, I strongly appeal to you to consider the reconstruction of the Orhor/Bomadi road to make it passable during the flooding period that is fast approaching”, he added.
