In solidarity with the ongoing nationwide strike, members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress, have barricaded the entrance and exit of the National Assembly complex. Early arrivals at the scene found the gates blocked with two coastal buses, preventing access to the premises.

Similarly, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, striking workers have blocked the entrance, denying intending passengers access to the airport.

This development comes as the organized labour unions, including the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, embarked on a nationwide strike following the federal government’s failure to agree on a new minimum wage.

The strike has already resulted in the shutdown of the national grid, exacerbating the situation.
