•Angry youths call for arrest, prosecution of officers responsible

Following the alleged extra-judicial killing of master Goodluck Oviekeme by the police operatives in Bayelsa state, angry youths on Saturday morning have stormed Yenagoa expressway to protest over what they described as unlawful killing of their kinsman.

The protesters demanded for justice and immediate prosecution of police officers responsible for the killing of the deceased youth.

The aggrieved youths said Goodluck Oviekeme was extra-judicially executed, adding that he was falsely alleged to be part of attack on police patrol van in the Yenagoa.

The protesting youths called on Bayelsa Police Command, CP Echeng E. Echeng to investigate and prosecute the police officers responsible for the deceased youth.

It was learnt that the deceased was seriously beaten and injured before being detained in the police custody.

The protesters said the deceased was shot and died in the police custody as results of the gun injury sustained.

They also alleged that the deceased died in the police custody and not in the hospital.

Meantime, the Bayelsa State Police command, CP Echeng E. Echeng has ordered for discreet investigation and autopsy to unravel the cause of the death of deceased suspect.
