Residents scamper for safety as sporadic shooting rocks Aladja community

Pandemonium in the Aladja community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State as youths allegedly clashed in the community on Thursday evening.

It was gathered that there was a serious shooting in the Aladja community where several persons sustained bullet injuries.

However, our reporter could not ascertain what caused the shooting and who was behind it.

Consequently, no record of casualty was received at the time of filing this report.

But when contacted a youth leader who pleaded anonymity in Ogbe-Ijoh community, he said it was internal fracas between youths of the Aladja community.

The youth leader alleged that he heard the gun shots and when he made findings he was told it was Aladja youths that were fighting themselves.

He denied that Ogbe-Ijoh was not involved in the Thursday July 27, 2023 evening shooting in the Aladja community.

However, also Aladja youth leader who spoke to our reporter on anonymity said he could not ascertain who was behind the attacks for now but said there was heavy shooting in the outskirts of the community.

He narrated that there is tension in Aladja community as residents scampered for safety.

Meanwhile, the Delta State police spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the gun battle in the community.

Edafe further said he was informed about the shooting but doe not have details as to the party involved.
