Rights group asks Delta CP to investigate gruesome killing of two passengers in Uwvie

A Rights Group, the Center for Human Rights and Public Complaints, CHRPC, has asked the Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Ari Muhammed Ali to swiftly moved into action to investigate the gruesome killing of two innocent citizens at Ugbolokposo, Uwvie Local Government Area of the state.

The State Chairman of the group, Comrade Ejiro-steve Unukpo who visited the scene where two lifeless bodies lied helplessly on Tuesday 12th July, 2022 disclosed this to Congress correspondent in a statement on Wednesday.

Unukpo, while condemning the killing perpetrated by suspected security operatives said the police should commence investigate into the incident in a view to prosecute the killers who were reportedly escorting a yet to be identified politician in a black Toyota Prado Jeep with a covered vehicle plate number.

The statement reads partly, “Eye witness sources alleged that the commercial trycle (Keke) operator was trying to overtake a black Jeep and mistakenly scratched the vehicle after which a policeman (well kited mobile police) came down to attack the trycle operator, out of fear, the passengers ran for their lives, the police chased after them and killed two out of the three passengers and left a serious gun shot wound on the tricycle operator who is now currently battling for his life.

“Even the State Governor will not order the killing of armless innocent citizens for any reason and we see no justification to such sensles killing and if not addressed, it will digenerate into indiscriminete killing by those who want to intimidate the ordinary citizens,” the cried out.
