Following the election petition filed by Oyetola and his party, the All Progressive Congress, APC , to challenge the election victory of Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Apex court has ruled that Adeleke is the authentic winner of the Governorship Election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had earlier declared Adeleke as the winner, but Oyetola rejected the election outcome.

Adeleke polled 403,371 votes to sack his predecessor, Oyetola who was the incumbent with 375,027 votes.

APC alleged that there were irregularities in the polls and challenged Adeleke’s victory in the Election Petition Tribunal.

The judgement upturned when justice Tertse Kume gave the majority judgement that Oyetola won the poll on January 27, 2023.

Adeleke didn’t satisfied with the judgement and headed to court of appeal which on March 24 nullified the tribunal judgment and returned Adeleke as the executive governor.

Oyetola and APC disagreed with the outcome and moved to the Supreme court, however, the final judgement was pronounced today Tuesday May 8, 2023, and declared Ademola Adeleke as the winner of Osun Governorship Election.
