By Stephen Asaba-ase
President Bola Tinubu has directed security operatives to arrest individuals flying Russian flags during the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, describing it as a treasonable offense.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, disclosed this after briefing the President on the security situation, warning that the military will not tolerate any further destruction of properties under the guise of protest.
Musa stated that while the protests were initially peaceful, they have been hijacked by individuals committing crimes and destruction. He assured that the security agencies will take serious action against those sponsoring and pushing individuals to fly foreign flags.
The President’s directive also includes apprehending those clamoring for a military takeover, describing it as treasonable. The CDS reiterated the military’s commitment to defending democratic governance and warned against any attempts to change the government through undemocratic means.
The meeting was attended by top government officials, including the Vice President, Chief of Staff, National Security Adviser, and heads of security agencies.
