A group under the auspices of the Society for the Welfare of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (SWUYN) has commended the Federal Government for launching the Youth Farmers Enrollment Portal, a platform described as a groundbreaking initiative aimed at tackling unemployment and food insecurity.

Congress learnt that the innovative initiative which was developed in partnership with the Nigerian Youth Economic Engagement and De-Radicalisation Programme (NIYEEDEP), had the potential to transform the lives of millions of young Nigerians

This is according to a statement signed by its national president Comr. Preye Tambou, which a copy of it was sent to Congress newspaper correspondent on Thursday.

“We commend the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, for his vision and commitment to empowering young people. The initiative’s goal of creating 6 million direct jobs in 2025 across agriculture, food and beverage, and agro-allied sectors is ambitious and timely.”, he added.

The group maintained that the portal’s focus on providing access to agricultural training programs, modern farming techniques, mentorship opportunities, financial support, and resources to start or expand agricultural ventures is particularly exciting. “This comprehensive approach will not only equip young people with sustainable skills but also foster economic growth and national development.

“As an organization dedicated to promoting the welfare of unemployed youths, we urge all eligible young Nigerians to take advantage of this opportunity. We believe that this initiative has the potential to be a game-changer in addressing the pressing issues of youth unemployment and food insecurity in our country.

“To enroll, interested individuals can visit the link: https://www.niyeedep.org. We look forward to collaborating with the government and other stakeholders to ensure the success of this initiative and create a brighter future for our young people”, they added.
