Wive of IGP visits Delta, empowers women, promises support for police officers’ Wives

The National President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) and wife of the 22nd Inspector-General of Police, Dr (Mrs) Elizabeth Egbetokun, paid a three-day visit to Delta State Command.

 

POWA’s president during her visit empowered vulnerable women and promised to provide support for police officers’s wives in the state.

 

Congress learnt that POWA’s President with her entourage alongside the wives of DIGs, AIGs, and CPs arrived the State on 16th February 2024 with a mandate of three-point agenda, Welfare, Health, and Education.

 

It was gathered that she paid a courtesy call to the Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, and members of the Command’s staff management team to identify with vulnerable women and provide support for them.

 

This is according to a statement by the State’s Command public relations officer, Bright Edafe on the 19th February 2024.

 

The statement added that she empowered One Hundred and Fifty-Five vulnerable women, wives of deceased Police officers who paid the ultimate prize while on active service.

 

The statement reads, ” Empowerment is not just a word, but a responsibility and commitment to providing the necessary implements and a sustainable environment for them to thrive in the face of challenges”

 

While reiterating on the role of the empowerment program, lives were transformed and society was strengthened and the vision of three points agenda was immeasurably achieved, and POWA dedication deserved utmost appreciation.

 

The August visitor further proceeded to the Palace of the Olu of Warri Kingdom, HRM Ogiama Atuwatsa III Utieyinoritsetsola Emiko, after which she visited the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Sediso OON (JP) the Abe 1 of Uvwie Kingdom.

 

The POWA’s President also paid a condolence visit to Asagba’s Palace in Asaba, where she commiserated with the palace on the dead of their late King, HRM Obi (Prof) Joseph Chike Edozien CFR, JP.

She also paid a courtesy visit to the Governor, Delta State, His Excellency, RT (Hon) Sheriff Oborevwori at the State Government House, Asaba. His Excellency received the President and her entourage, assured them that his government would continually support the mandate of POWA in whatever capacity needed.
