2027: Isoko Group Demands Stewardship From Federal, State Lawmakers
By Monday Peters, Abuja
A group, Concerned Sons and Daughters of Isoko Kingdom for Good Governance, has called on federal and state lawmakers from Isoko nation to account for constituency project funds received since assuming office.
In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Gen. Omogha Wilson Ajiri, the group urged the Senator representing Delta South and House of Representatives members from Isoko constituency to explain the where about of constituency projects to Isoko Nation.
Ajiri alleged that senators receive ₦2 billion annually and House of Representatives members receive ₦1 billion annually from the Presidency for constituency projects, while state assembly members also receive funds from the state governor.
He noted that Isoko federal lawmakers have spent over three years in office and collected billions of naira for constituency projects, aside from salaries and statutory allowances, yet “Isoko Nation is in darkness and underdeveloped.”
The group called on traditional rulers, the Isoko Development Union (IDU), community chairmen, presidents-general, and Isoko indigenes to join in inviting the senator and federal and state lawmakers to “give the full interpretation of constituency project and also show Isoko Nation where they spent the billions of naira given to them by the federal government to develop Isoko Nation.”
The group said it remains committed to the development of Isoko Nation and Delta State.
