Following the ongoing fuel subsidy removal hardship, the executive governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has increased the minimum wage paid to state workers from approved N30,000 to N40,000.

In a statement signed by the governor, he stated that the development is to help citizens since the wake of fuel subsidy removal by the federal government.

Obaseki stated that the state government shared in the pains of the people and want to assure all citizens that the government is with them in these challenging times.

He promised the citizens to do everything within his power to reduce the pain and suffering they were going through.

As a proactive administration, he maintained that the government has increased the minimum wage from N30,000 to N40,000.

The governor said that he will make sure he continued to pay the new amount and even increase it further. Due to the increase in transportation, the state government has also reduced the number of workdays from five to three days a week.

He maintained that teachers and all government workers would now be working three days a week, to lower the rising cost of spending.
