NYCN President Backs Tinubu’s Second Term, Says South Deserves Two Terms

By Diafa Doubra,
The President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ambassador Sukubo Sara‑Igbe, has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu’s potential re‑election in 2027, insisting that fairness demands the South be allowed to complete two terms in office, just as the North did under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking during a meeting with NYCN stakeholders from the South‑West in Ibadan, Sara‑Igbe argued that the North had already enjoyed two terms under Buhari, and that denying Tinubu the same opportunity would be inequitable. He added that continuity in leadership would allow ongoing government programmes to achieve their intended impact.
The NYCN President also addressed criticisms of Tinubu’s administration, stating that while it is normal for citizens to feel someone else might have performed better, the focus should remain on sustaining developmental initiatives.
Youth leaders in Oyo State and across the South‑West expressed support for Sara‑Igbe’s leadership in NYCN, highlighting his efforts to ensure strong representation of the zone in national youth affairs.
The development underscores the growing discussions about regional equity and rotational politics as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections.
