The Delta State Police Command has announced two major breakthroughs following the arrest of a suspected serial killer and prison escapee, as well as the apprehension of a pastor accused of defilement, rape, and sexual exploitation of church members. The developments were confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

According to the police, the first arrest was made on October 24, 2025, after the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbor received a report that a man, identified as Michael Ezenwai, was attempting to sell a suspected stolen phone. Officers were immediately deployed, leading to the suspect’s swift arrest. During preliminary questioning, Ezenwai claimed the phone was brought from Libya, but the truth quickly unraveled when the device rang and a caller revealed it belonged to her sister, 26-year-old Christabel Egedefe. Acting on this information, officers proceeded to Christabel’s residence, where she was tragically found dead.

Confronted with the discovery, the suspect confessed to murdering the young woman during a robbery on October 23, stating that he killed her when she resisted efforts to take her motorcycle keys and phones. Further investigations revealed shocking details: Ezenwai is reportedly a serial murderer and was part of the gang responsible for the 2020 rape and murder of UNIBEN student, Uwaila Omorzuwa, inside a church. He also confessed to escaping from the Oko Correctional Centre during the 2020 End SARS jailbreak. The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.

In a separate development, the State Criminal Investigation Department has arrested Pastor Daniel Ololo of Omega Prophetic Prayer Ministry in Sapele following allegations of rape and sexual assault. A petition filed on October 13 accused the pastor of using fake prophecies to manipulate and intimidate vulnerable female church members into sexual acts. Police investigations uncovered that the pastor allegedly coerced victims into believing their “deliverance” depended on having sex with him. Disturbingly, further findings show that he had carnal knowledge of three sisters from the same family, with the youngest victim being only 17 years old. Pastor Ololo was arrested on November 17 at the church premises, and the police confirmed he remains in custody while investigations proceed.

SP Bright Edafe reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for victims and maintaining security across Delta State. He assured the public that both cases are being thoroughly investigated, and appropriate legal actions will follow.
