Congress Begins Activities Ahead 5th Anniversary Celebration July 16

LAGOS – The Management of Congress Newspaper begins activities ahead of its 5th anniversary on July 16, 2026, with a series of events lining up to celebrate five years of excellence, impact, courage and commitment, guided by its motto: True, Fearless and Credibility.

Management said the month-long commemoration is aimed at reflecting on the paper’s journey, honouring its contributors, and reaffirming its commitment to credible reporting and creating a speaking space for the minority’s voice.

It was gathered that since its launch, Congress Newspaper has positioned itself as a platform for bold, factual, and independent journalism. In a statement released ahead of the celebration, management said the past five years have been defined by “impact, excellence, commitment, courage, and service.”

“From our first edition to today, we have remained committed to telling the stories that matter, holding power to account, and giving voice to the voiceless,” the statement read. “This anniversary is not just a celebration of our survival, but of the trust our readers have placed in us.”

The management mentioned activities to mark the 5th Anniversary on July 16 to include a commemorative edition of the newspaper, public engagement programmes, and a recognition event for staff, contributors, and partners who have supported the paper’s growth.

The paper’s management said the events will also serve as a platform to discuss the future of journalism in Nigeria, with emphasis on digital transformation, press freedom, and ethical reporting.

Congress’ management described the 5th anniversary as a milestone and a call to deepen the paper’s mandate.

“As we mark five years, we renew our pledge to remain true, fearless, and credible. The future of journalism lies in innovation and integrity, and Congress Newspaper is committed to leading that charge,” the statement added.
